I got into triathlon to keep fit in the footy off-season. Sports are something I have always enjoyed and been lucky enough to be good at. Recently I was approached to be a Sporting Ambassador for the Ride for HeartKids, a cycling charity event which raises money for HeartKids Australia.
HeartKids are Aussie children who suffer from Childhood Heart Disease (CHD). Many of them will never have the opportunity to play sport, ride a bike, run or swim. And for no reason other then they were born with something wrong with their heart. Still these kids show an amazing amount of strength, persistence and a dare to dream. I’m proud to become the Ride for HeartKids first Sporting Ambassador and help spread awareness of this great event. Anyone can join the Ride for HeartKids. Check them out at website or at their Facebook page.
Joining Ride for HeartKids
If you spend a lot of time on your bike, training, racing, getting to and from work, or just because you can, why not consider joining the Ride for HeartKids? These guys motto is to ‘Challenge Yourself, Make a Difference’ and by setting yourself a goal and raising funds to help HeartKids in Australia I know that we can all make that difference. Ten year old Thomas Henderson-Smith is a HeartKid who can’t run because of his heart condition. But he is participating in the Ride for HeartKids and has raised over $1000. What a little champion!
Sponsoring a Ride for HeartKids Rider
There are lots of good riders and challenges being undertaken by the Ride for HeartKids team. If you want to throw some money towards a great cause and make a difference to sick Aussie kids then visit their donation portal and find a rider who you reckon is doing a great job and make a donation. No donation is too small and every bit makes a difference.
