One thing I always enjoy is reading your comments and feedback, whether that’s on Facebook, Twitter or here on the blog. Since it’s the beginning of 2015, I thought it’s time to introduce a new feature to make things even more interactive.
Over the last year I’ve been interviewed by First Off The Bike and ATTV, I’ve bared my soul on Fat Black and been probed by The Real Starky. I even had the privilege of being the first guest on Cupcakes With Cal (still waiting to see the cupcakes, mate!).
Now, I’d like to give you an opportunity to satisfy your curiosity and be the one asking the questions. Just to be really creative, I’ve called this new segment – Ask Berks! The way it works is pretty simple. Come up with your question or questions and then post them on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #AskBerks. At the end of each month I’ll take a bunch of the most interesting questions and answer them in a special Ask Tim edition of the blog.
What kind of questions? Whatever you like! I probably don’t have the answers to Life, the Universe and everything (try @DalaiLama or Stephen Hawking for those) but I’m happy to answer anything else. If I don’t know, I’ll run it past the experts who work for my sponsors and track down an answer for you.
So, whether it’s training tips you’re after, insights into race tactics, questions about diet or gear, or even Bel’s cupcake recipe (they’re bloody beautiful)… just Ask Tim. I’m looking forward to hearing from you, so send in those questions and keep ‘em coming.

What goes through your mind on the 2+ hours on the run during a race? Surely u can’t be thinking about form that entire time….
How many grms of carbohydrates per hr (say via gels) + other during an IM race do u take and how many ml of hydration ? Please 🙂
Supplements: which ones you trust and use. Thanks for this initiative and for the chance you gave to all age groupers, average joe triathletes, and fans, to get in touch with you. I wish all pro triathletes could do this.

Q1. Bode & I are about to have a crack at some Run/Swim/Run sprint races (Australian titles 22/2 1.5k/300/1.5k), how do we balance keeping up with the lead in the run & being able to breathe in the swim.

Hey man. Congrats on a great 2014. I am doing 4 rides a week leading into IM Melb. 1x strength (hills), 1x easy, 1x WT tempo set and 1x long ride (approx 6hrs). What intensity do you think I should do my long rides at? I train to HR and power.

Are champion systems same mesh type material?
I know you where never a swimmer growing up, nor a front pack swimmer, correct me if I’m wrong, but you did a massive dedicated swim block to turn yourself into a swimmer doing 50k a week?How much of your bike/run had to suffer so you could focus on your swim and how long did you keep those massive swim blocks up for before you returned your training as per normal… eg what would you swim in a typical week now? Seems the only way if you havent had a swim back ground from a youngster is to create a swim background as an adult

Sounds good Peter Mauro I have just started getting back riding. It is worse in Tt position. Probably doesn’t help I’m 10-15 kgs overweight. I think my frame isn’t long enough. When can we do and how much?
